ABOUT

In 2013, biologist Dr. Brian Hooker received a call from a Senior Scientist at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) who led the agency’s 2004 study on the Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) vaccine and its link to autism.

The scientist, Dr. William Thompson, confessed that the CDC had omitted crucial data in their final report that revealed a causal relationship between the MMR vaccine and autism. Over several months, Dr. Hooker records the phone calls made to him by Dr. Thompson who provides the confidential data destroyed by his colleagues at the CDC.

Dr. Hooker enlists the help of Dr. Andrew Wakefield, the British gastroenterologist falsely accused of starting the anti-vax movement when he first reported in 1998 that the MMR vaccine may cause autism. In his ongoing effort to advocate for children’s health, Wakefield directs this documentary examining the evidence behind an appalling cover-up committed by the government agency charged with protecting the health of American citizens.

Interviews with pharmaceutical insiders, doctors, politicians, and parents of vaccine-injured children reveal an alarming deception that has contributed to the skyrocketing increase of autism and potentially the most catastrophic epidemic of our lifetime.

What if I don't think I need Unlimited Care?

So we rolled out our Unlimited Chiropractic care for $79 a month membership plan a while back and it has been a smashing success.  But we have noticed that after a few months on the plan some members find that they only need a couple treatments a month to stay healthy and inline.  While the Unlimited Plan worked great initially we realized that for some patients we needed a more Basic Plan for ongoing maintenance care.

That is how our Basic Plan was created.  So instead of cancelling out of the Unlimited Plan and going back to the $49 a visit a la-carte option we decided to make a 2 visit a month plan for only $49 and any additional visits would only cost $25!  That's half off our a la-carte price!

So if you have been on the Unlimited Plan but think you need to cut back don't just cancel your membership.  It is a simple switch with our membership conversion form.  You can always switch back to Unlimited should you need to with no change fee.

This Basic Plan is also a good fit for those that have been under chiropractic care elsewhere and just need to stay "tuned-up" in our office.

Don't get us wrong though - our Unlimited Plan is still by far the most popular plan and as we encourage once a week spinal checks and adjustments.  It is still the best value.

Meet Dr. Daniel Vaden

Dr. Daniel Vaden began his journey to Chiropractic while in undergraduate school in TN where he studied nutrition and human performance. He said some chiropractors on the radio were talking about the causes of disease and natural ways to become healthy. “Suddenly I realized that the principles of Chiropractic truly resonated with how I feel about health. One of my favorite quotes is: ‘Medicine is the study of disease and what causes man to die. Chiropractic is the study of health and what causes man to live.’ Chiropractic isn’t just about an adjustment; it’s about a lifestyle.”

Like for many other his first visit to a Chiropractor was a bit scary. He didn’t know what to expect, but was excited to see what would happen for his health. “After the explanation and my first adjustment I knew this was the profession for me.”

Dr. Vaden moved to Marietta, Georgia to study Chiropractic at Life University where he immediately became involved in several technique clubs on campus. In February of 2011 he met the founder and developer of Torque Release Technique, Dr. Jay Holder, which began the start of a great mentorship. Dr. Daniel earned an advanced proficiency certification in this technique, wrote the curriculum for the first Torque Release Technique Course offered at Life University, and conducted a significant amount of related research as a part of the research track scholarship. While in school Dr. Daniel served as the President of the Torque Release Technique Club and became a Fellow of the Holder Research Institute in 2013. Some of his research can be seen here: https://www.torquerelease.com/pdf/61.pdf

According Dr. Vaden one of the most fascinating things that he has been given the privilege to do is to connect people’s brains to an EEG and observe how chiropractic adjustments change the brain! The study of addiction is central to Chiropractic as the spinal cord is directly related to human feelings of happiness and wellbeing. Addiction creates a chemical break down in that pathway. The developer of chiropractic believed that some day we could empty prisons and addiction facilities with chiropractic. This is what led Dr. Vaden to study addiction and perform a 3-month study on the effects of chiropractic care on brain function and addiction outcomes. Dr. Vaden holds Diplomate Status in Addictions and Compulsive Disorders (Board Eligible) and certification in Auriculotherapy by the American College of Addictionology and Compulsive Disorders.

Dr. Daniel Vaden Will be joining us May of 2016. We are extremely excited to welcome him to the Rimrock family and we hope you'll join us in our excitement.

Are arch supports really necessary?

We get this question all the time . . ."Are arch supports really necessary?"  The short answer is yes.  The long answer is a bit more complex, but worth the time to explain.  You see, humans were designed for an uneven terrain such as undulating hills and dirt and rocks etc.   Not this symmetrical, flat world of asphalt and concrete.  Our bodies are not perfectly symmetrical and so placing our bodies into this environment in gravity causes strain on the feet, knees and hips.  These surfaces also don't provide dynamic input into the foot and over time our intrinsic foot muscles atrophy and become less supportive.  For these reasons I recommend Sole Supports orthotic arch supports.  They help recreate the lost arch and produce a dynamic environment for the foot.  Overtime this can help alleviate stress in the foot, knee and hip as well as treat bunions, plantar fasciitis.  Contact or office at 970-243-1388 to learn more about how Sole Supports orthotics can help you.

What To Expect During a Massage or Bodywork Session

Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?

Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quite room at the back of our Wellness Center.  Soft music may be played to help you relax.  You will lie on a table especially designed with your comfort in mind.

Who will perform my massage or bodywork?

Your massage will be conducted by one of our licensed, insured Massage Therapists.  Our Therapists at the Wellness Center have received proper training in a variety of techniques and modalities. Although no two massages are exactly alike, you may request a certain technique or modality.  You may also request one of our therapists specifically.

Must I be completely undressed?

Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, you may decide on the amount of clothing you prefer to wear based on your comfort level. You will be properly draped throughout the session.

Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?

After discussing the session details, goals, and concerns the therapist will leave the room to allow for you to disrobe, get relaxed onto the table, and get covered with the clean sheet and blanket that are provided - knocking before entering the room again.

Will I be covered during the session?

You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable.  Only the area being worked on by the therapist will be exposed.

What parts of my body will be massaged?

You and the practitioner will discuss the desired goals and outcome of the session prior to beginning the treatment.  This will determine the areas to be worked on.  A typical full-body massage session will include work on your  back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck and shoulders.  You will not be touched on or near intimate parts such as the genitals or breasts.

What will the massage feel like?

This can vary depending on the technique or modality used.  In a general Swedish Massage, your session will begin with long, broad, flowing strokes that will help to calm your nervous system and ease exterior muscle tension.  Gradually, the strokes will become deeper, working levels deep to the superficial muscles.  You should communicate with your therapist in regard to pressure.  If at any moment the pressure is deeper than desired or than what is comfortable, you should let your therapist know so that they may take another approach.  Massage is best and most effective when your body is relaxed and not in a state of resistance.

Are there different kinds of Massage and Bodywork?

Yes!  There are numerous modalities and techniques for massage and bodywork.  Different modalities utilize different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes such as effluerage and petrissage,  rocking movements, posture and movement reeducation, application of pressure to specific points, stretching and traction techniques, and more.  Ask the practitioner about the methods she is using if you have any questions or concerns.  We love to educate and inform our clients about massage, especially the massage that we are applying to that client.

How long will the session last?

The duration of the session will be established and set when the appointment is booked and before the treatment begins.  At Rimrock Wellness Center, we offer half-hour, hour long, and 90 minute massage sessions.  The typical full-body massage generally takes approximately an hour.  A half-hour typically provides only enough time for focus work on smaller areas of concerns, such as the neck, shoulders, and arms, the back, or the legs and feet.  Many people prefer a 60 minute to a 90 minute massage for optimal relaxation, providing the best results.

What should I do during the massage?

Make yourself comfortable.  The therapist will either gently move you or tell you what is needed, such as 'lifting your arm' or 'rolling over'.  Many people like to close their eyes, relax into the table and enjoy the session.  Others enjoy talking through the session.  Feel free to ask questions about the session, techniques used, or about massage and bodywork in general.

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?

Most people feel very relaxed.  Some experience freedom from long term aches and pains.  After an initial period of feeling  slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity.  It is recommended you drink plenty of water following a massage treatment.

What are the benefits of massage?

Massage can help to relieve chronic muscle pain and tension brought on from overuse, injuries, or stress, increased joint flexibility, improvement in circulation, promote faster healing of injured muscles, improve posture, and reduced blood pressure. Massage has also been shown to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety, and create an overall sense of well-being.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage inadvisable?

Yes.  That is why we require a short, but thorough health intake form prior to your first massage with us.  It is important that you notify the therapist of any health conditions, concerns, or medications that are being taken.  If you are under medical supervision of any kind, we advise that you receive a written recommendation for massage care prior to scheduling an appointment.

Meet Dr. Greg Haitz

Dr. Greg Haitz first became interested in health and wellness at a young age. He would often find himself reading food labels and nutritional facts. As a teenager he started studying exercise and nutrition and weight training. These early interests persisted and he found himself pursuing college studies in biology, psychology and exercise at Mesa State College. After a car accident left him with daily headaches, he sought out a natural approach to the problem. That seeking landed him in a chiropractor’s office where he not only found a permanent and natural fix to his daily headaches, but also a future career. Dr Greg Haitz finished his studies at Mesa State and was accepted into the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa where he graduated with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2003. He also completed an internship in the Palmer College Sports Injury and Rehab department. Since that time he has received post graduate training in nutrition, and received his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist designation from the NSCA.

Dr Greg Haitz opened Rimrock Wellness Center in Grand Junction, Colorado in 2007 to help his clients live a healthier lifestyle by addressing the three dimensions of stress – physical, biochemical, and psychological. Creating Wellness in an add on system to chiropractic that incorporates fitness and exercise, weight management and nutrition, and the mind body connection in making healthier lifestyle choices and stress management.

Dr. Greg Haitz understands that with the rise in obesity, lack of fitness and pervasive stress we need to address lifestyle issues and prevention. Treating disease once it shows up has not been a very good strategy in health care thus far. We need to get much more proactive.

Dr. Greg Haitz has helped thousands of people in his community by using chiropractic as a gentle, natural and non-invasive treatment method for optimum health, while encouraging them to explore their wellness challenges at the same time. Chiropractic is the fastest growing health care system in the world and Dr. Greg Haitz is clearly a leader in his community in helping that growth to continue.

Dr. Greg Haitz was nominated for the Rising Star Chiropractor of the Year in 2009.

He and his wellness center have been the topic of newspaper articles and his has lectured extensively in his community on diet, nutrition, fitness and wellness.
